Trip to the Museum

There was so much to see at the Museum of Moving Images. The first this that really caught my eye, and was my favorite part was the room with the spinning machine and blinking lights. The lights would blink for a certain period of time and then turn on completely continually. While the lights were blinking, it looked like you were watching this one object continually change as it went down like a movie, but once the lights turned on completely you could see that it was actually a spinning machine with all the fazes lined up from top to bottom. When I was this, it was really surprising.
There also were a LOT of different camera's spanning a long period of time and size. The camera used to film the wizard of OZ, the first color film i believe, was also there. There were the running horse photos that we went over in class as well as a short Charlie Chaplin "movie" that we saw by turning the dial, which moved the photos. And there was the sound booth with voice recording over movie characters. Another interesting part of the museum was cartoon making station. I didn't know anything really about the production of cartoons, but it was fun to learn about it as well as create a short one.

As time passed, moving image technology changed the way moving imaged are created. The cameras became smaller and smaller, the quality improved and color images replaced black and white images as the norm. With time, moving images turned into movies, and only live shows during specific hours of the day turned into programming being available 24/7. The museum was an amazing experience, and i think i'll come back someday soon.
